You're Invited: Join me on a Creative Side Quest!
Support your creative growth with a themed prompt and activity (+ bonus goodies) delivered to your actual physical mailbox each month.
What Is Creative Side Quest?
Creative Side Quest is a snail mail club for creatives and aspiring creatives who could use a gentle invitation to re-engage their creativity with fun prompts and activities each month.
Each month, members of the Creative Side Quest mail club will receive a beautifully curated (physical) Creative Side Quest envelope in the (actual) mail with a reflection prompt, creative activity, and other inspirational bits, with each month’s goodies centered around a unique theme.
It’s not a challenge; there’s no time pressure, no ideal outcome, and no performative posting on social. Instead, Creative Side Quest is a monthly snail-mailed nudge to reconnect to your creative self & have some fun!
Join by the end of December ($9/month) to get the first club delivery in January!
Who should join Creative Side Quest?
Creative Side Quests are intentionally designed to spark curiosity and encourage low-stakes creative fun for creatives of all types, backgrounds, and skill levels, without the need for any specific skills or tools.
people who want to feel creative but don’t know where to start
overwhelmed creatives craving gentle structure
writers, artists, makers, and hobbyists who love analog play
neurodivergent folks who like clear instructions
anyone who loves snail mail, ephemera, and surprises
I’ve tried to make it as accessible as possible at $9/month, and it’s billed monthly, so you can stop any time if life gets crazy. Join now to get next month’s quest in the mail!
Why Creative Side Quest?
In many ways, Creative Side Quest feels like the summation of my life’s work, in one project: It combines my love of creative experimentation, my compulsion to curate, my love of paper ephemera, and the magic of receiving snail mail, all in a way that builds creative community and aligns with my purpose: helping others think differently and be their most creative selves.
Truth be told, some of my favorite creative projects have been Creative Side Quests themselves.
Sometimes the side quests came to me, like when I got an email inviting me to create a course for LinkedIn Learning, or when a TikTok commenter suggested I submit my artwork to the state fair, or when my kid’s school library requested book character sculptures made out of fake pumpkins. (I made the Very Hungry Caterpillar.)
But a lot of times, I sought creative side quests out, like when I started writing a contemporary women’s fiction book to challenge myself to think differently or when I enrolled in a Harvard course about museum curation to fill a travel lull. (It’s literally a certification in “Tangible Things” and it was SO MUCH FUN.)
I’ve learned new skills, met wonderful people, and practiced new ways of thinking. And doing it has made me braver, more curious, and less afraid to try new things.
Creative experiments don’t have to be scary, or complicated, or expensive.
That’s why I started Creative Side Quest: to offer other creatives a delightfully simple way to flex your creative muscles regularly and practice thinking differently, and to make getting mail fun again in the process.
The Creative Constructs newsletter is a labor of love supported by paid subscribers and occasional affiliate links, which offer me a small commission on sales of products I already love and would recommend anyway. Thank you for your ongoing support.

This is genuinely amazing, and I've just decided to gift myself this gift for the span of winter.
(Side note / neurodivergent insight: realizing I sometimes struggle with signing up for things that appeal to me because I get so *all or nothing* about it, and it feels like a genuine epiphany to be like, wait a minute: I could do this for *a season.* Isn't accommodation + self-knowledge a wonderful thing?!!)
